Putin on Film

Putin on Film

Russia is not a country that comes across particularly well in film, which tends to exaggerate extremes. Perhaps it is also fair to say that Russia is often thought and approached in terms of in extremes, so together the subject and the media create something of a perfect storm.

The link above and below is my review of a day of films ranging from the reflective to the investigate and to the accusatory. Each has something to say about Russia in the age of Vladimir Putin, whose return to the Presidency shows his indispensability, as well, you might argue, as his limitations.

If you get a chance to see any of them (particularly Our Newspaper or Putin’s Kiss), don’t miss out.
